Tuesday we left Johannesburg and headed across the agriculturally-rich Highveld toward the Escarpment. We did a couple stops in the Blyde River Canyon on the way, including the Three Rondavels and the Bourke's Luck Potholes. Then on to Hamilton Parks Lodge for 2 nights, with our hosts Kurt and Lynn. Wednesday we spent the full day in Kruger National Park, with temps soaring to over 100 degrees. The spring rains have not yet started in this region and I've never seen it so dry. Nevertheless, we saw a lot of wildlife, including over 100 elephants! Thursday morning we hiked up into the Rain Forest at God's Window, before continuing on to Buffalo Camp at Kapama Reserve for 2 nights and 4 safari drives.
